Our Story: Serving with Purpose Since 1975
It all started on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, where a young entrepreneur named Dave Wilson Sr. looked at a car lot and saw something more: a chance to serve his community. In 1975, he laid the foundation for what would become Preston Automotive Group. What started as a single Ford dealership in Hurlock, MD, quickly grew, fueled by Dave’s vision and relentless drive. The Preston Ford Autoplex took shape, and soon, the seeds of a larger legacy were planted. Over the next five decades, that legacy would flourish. From its humble beginnings, the group expanded across Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia, becoming home to some of the most respected automotive brands, including Chevrolet, Lincoln, Mazda, Nissan, Hyundai, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram. But our story didn’t stop with cars. We rolled up our sleeves and built body shops to serve our guests better. We opened Quick Lane® centers to make service faster and more convenient. We launched iFrog Marketing Solutions to support our dealer network and partners. We even expanded into powersports and lawn equipment to meet the needs of every lifestyle. Even as we’ve grown, our dedication to the community and our original values have never wavered.
A Legacy That Leaps Forward
Founded by Dave Wilson Sr., the torch was passed to his son, David Wilson Jr., who grew up washing cars in the detail shop and learning the business from the ground up. In 2020, David Jr. stepped into the role of President and CEO, bringing fresh energy and vision to the company while honoring the values his father instilled. Today, multiple family members help guide the Preston legacy. It’s a story of grit, growth, and generational passion. Still rooted in Preston, Maryland, and still driven by the same purpose: to serve, support, and make a difference. The road ahead is wide open, and we’re just getting started. Alongside other family members bringing their own strengths, the Wilsons uphold the core values of Integrity, Team Work, and Community, transforming their family legacy from a chapter in history into a vibrant, guiding force shaping the future of Preston Automotive Group.
Why the Frog?
When the frog hopped onto the scene and made his first debut, he stole the spotlight. His cheerful presence and unmistakable charm instantly captured the hearts of our community. So much so that when he briefly disappeared, the response was overwhelming. Calls came pouring in. Letters arrived from loyal fans. The message was loud and clear: bring the Preston Frog back! He returned not just as a character, but as something far more meaningful. He became a symbol of the Preston brand itself.
For over 40 years, the Preston Frog has been more than a friendly face. He’s been a constant companion in our commercials, a familiar figure in our logos, and a cheerful passenger on the dashboard of every Preston vehicle sold. What began as a fun idea has grown into a strong symbol of our identity. The Preston Frog isn’t just a mascot. He represents creativity, connection, and community. He reminds us that when you lead with heart and stay true to your values, the impact can last for generations. Great ideas never fade. Strong values never go out of style. And the Preston Frog is living proof.

Preston Cares: Driven by Community
For 50 years, the heart of Preston Automotive Group has never been about the vehicles; it’s been about the people. Supporting and uplifting those around us has always been at the core of who we are. That is why we founded Preston Cares, a movement that began in 1984 with the birth of the beloved Preston Frog. Preston Cares was created, not as a campaign, but as a heartfelt movement grounded in compassion, community, and purpose.
Through Preston Cares, we have proudly raised awareness for meaningful causes by featuring different colored Frogs throughout the year and actively participating in local events that bring our community together. Our commitment runs deep. From supporting Talbot Goes Purple and the ALS Foundation to investing in local schools and honoring our everyday heroes, including healthcare professionals, first responders, and teachers, we are always looking for ways to give back. One cause especially close to our hearts is the fight against breast cancer. Each October, we proudly Leap For A Cure, wearing pink and uniting with our community to raise awareness, support survivors, and work toward a cure. This mission grew even stronger in 2020 with the creation of the Annual Frog’s Fairway Golf Tournament, now a cherished tradition with proceeds directly supporting local breast cancer organizations, making a difference right here on the Eastern Shore.
We have championed causes that touch every corner of our community, including heart health awareness, fighting against childhood cancer, promoting substance abuse awareness, funding brain tumor research, and garnering veteran support.
